HUGS FROM A LITTLE CUBAN POETESS

By Alicia Centelles

When she was in sixth degree, Raquel Perez Cruz, a girl born in Havana in 1991, wrote several poems and poetic texts that her parents have compiled under the title “”Collection of my hugs”, classified in six parts: Patriotic hug, Green hug, Familiar hug, Loving hug, Special hug and Fantastic hug in a simple prose.

This teenager, who studies in Camilo Cienfuegos High School, in Havana, tell us in her verses about her family (her parents, her brother Ale, her grandmother), of her teacher Lucia, her country, love, the nature, the Spanish dance... nothing escapes to their sensitivity.

She has won Literature and Spanish contests, and love Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer´s poems, and she´s a real fan of Harry Potter´s books and the adventures novels by Emilio Salgari.

Here you have some of the works of Raquel, a true poetess:

Ad looking for a sister

A sister is looked for
who when I grow up
she mst be willing to love Granma.
She must be sweet and very affectionate,
and if she is inquisitive, I do not ask for anything else.
If there is a reward?
Of course there is!
A noble grandmother, wise and comprehensive;
and sweet, very sweet, as an anise grain.

Love

What is love?
A boy ask me about while he´s toying
with a flower .
What makes a mother laughs,
that a proud man
cry,
what defrosts the coldest blood,
what makes the world turns without stopping.

It can be the esteem by a friend,
also the affection to your professor,
your untiring love for your beautiful Cuba,
all that and more love contains.

It is your love to Nature,
your love to the people who saw you grow up,
but the most beautiful love in Earth love,
is that one between a man and a woman.

But lately love is lost,
There is no longer a conscience about how important thing
it is,
the crazy person of Bush has dismissed it,
every time there is less than it should have.

Hatred has seized hearts,
hatred, money and interest,
there is hardly love among people,
the world, my child, is almost upside down.

You have to promise me, my dear child,
Hat you´ll always have your heart open
to faith, love and affection
our country and to the Revolution.

The boy looks at me very respectfully,
He kiss me sonorously on my cheek
And tell me: I promise it to you!

Did you interview that young Raquel? She seems to be a gifted young talent. How often do you publish articles in your blog? We will try to look at your blog regularly?
