Making Part of the Solution

An ample range of popular sectors accedes today to different responsibilities in the society. Technicians, farmers, artists, doctors, students, conjugate their efforts and knowledges for the good of the majority. Our blog approaches today to the trajectory of one of these people, young parlamentarian Leticia Veitía Núñez
 

If we look at the interests and concerns of the university students, without doubts, the achievement of good academic results, the search of future labor options and some alternative courses will be the average goals. Nevertheless, for a good part of them there are no limits. It is a question of considering possibilities and organizing the use of time. In this way the horizon is extended, and more can be done then.

Under these rules, Cuban young people use a part of their forces and motivations in other activities; not only in sport matches, festivals of culture or exciting investigations.

The feared leadership
To be a leader is not an easy task. Sometimes, to manage to satisfy the needs of the majority, even moderately, is a huge work. Perhaps for that reason many do not considere it among their plans. However, for young Havanian Leticia Veitía Núñez, a member of the Commission of Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of People's Power, that is one of her priorities.

“My position has been always to contribute. I am not used to sitting down to hope. I like to be within the solution and the fact of taking on such an important responsibility has taken me to that way.

“It is an excellent opportunity to serve to the society somehow. For me the commitment is supreme. At the beginning, the decision of accepting the nomination as a representative to the Parliament surprised many of my classmates. It is unusual that a twenty-three young woman, with the study, the parties, the concerts, assumes such a responsibility. But those who know me, they know this action is coherent with the attitude I have had during all my life.

 “Afterwards this was reverted. They began to see that somebody of their age, with the same problems and concerns, can be really dedicated to other more serious activities.
